I used to be a huge King fan. The Stand is by far my favorite book of his, and one of my all-time favorite books, period.
I had tried to get some friends at work to read it, but they were afraid of being spooked, so they never did.
And then the telemovie came out and I finally convinced them to watch it.
They both loved it, but one of them, a black woman, commented that Mother Abigail was displayed as the stereotypical old black woman. I had never thought of that, although, as a southern, white man, I certainly get tired of the stereotypes we have foisted on us.
Good read and an interesting perspective. One thing that writing does is greatly affect how we read.
