Fantastic article! I’ve been on Twitter for 12 years and still have less than 500 followers. On FB, I’ve reached the 5k limit, unfriended a bunch and hit it again over and over.
I really like Twitter, but haven’t been able to get any traction. I have to admit, I do post more marketing links and little else. I guess I got used to that back in the 140 char limit days.

I’ll try your method and see what happens, but I’m curious about one thing.

When do you market or post links back to articles? After all, isn’t the ultimate goal of a big following to have more people to market to?
