7 Things Writers Should Be Doing Now Besides Reading This Article

Trust me, I know how it is. If you only read one more article on how to make money writing on Medium, you’ll uncover the silver bullet, the magic formula. But guess what?

There isn’t one.

Writers Write.

You can tell yourself you’re doing market research all you want, but what you’re doing mostly is wasting time and putting off the inevitable. Until you get some words down and get them in front of people, you aren’t writing.

You’re reading.

Don’t get me wrong. Reading is one of the most important things we can do as writers, and research is one of the seven things. But it’s not the only thing. It’s not even the most important thing. (But I guess it’s in the top 7).

Set aside some time for reading and research and stick to that time. Restrict your reading to known entities, voices of experience you can trust. Like mine. I know I’ve been away for a bit, working on other projects, but I have a lot of good content and it’s still relevant. Those articles got me work that has kept the doors open.
